A time of Stress Turned to Joy.

I remember going through your father's heart attack in Scottsdale and going to the hospital to be with Barbara. Your mother was resigned that this was the time that God was giving your father rest from this life and sleep until he awoke him to tend to the city home that was prepared for him. Within the hour or so, the doctor's reports were not indicating anything other than, if he did pull through that there might very well be some loss of thinking and memory process. What joy there was between Barbara and me when the doctor came into the room and told us that he was sitting up and wanted to see us. There your father sat, shirtless with four big burn spots located two on each side of his chest. He was smiling and telling us that he tried to tell the doctors not to "hit" him again that he was alright, but they did not listen. The doctor responded that if he and your father were in the same room that they did not hear any such request. Barbara just stood and listened, smiling as she took your fathers hand stating that she was thankful that the doctor did not hear Delbert's request and did try that one more "hit" which started the heart beating. We all prayed a thankful prayer that God answered our prayers and was giving them a number of more years together. Now God has given her rest until HE comes. Our prayers are with you and may he give you peace in the promise of that bright morning when we meet all of those who have gone to sleep in Jesus. May She rest in peace. 21 hours ago · Like · 2
